An major advantage for us in signing up to Electric Kiwi, is that it provides us with a free hour of power use each day. This means that we can select a free off peak hour, and we don't get charged for any electricity usage that occurs in that free hour. We normally chose between 9pm and 10pm, allowing us to do more power intensive tasks like washing and using the dishwasher, during that free hour. Many people do their free hour in the morning if they get up early.
Electric Kiwi is also literally the only power company that has sent us an email to say that our power prices would be changing, and the daily and unit prices were actually going down!. We know that won't necessarily always be the case, and power prices over the long term do tend to rise, but it was certainly a welcome surprise.
