A new app to compare Supermarket prices NZ. This new app is called Grocer, a grocery comparison app for Kiwis to compare prices of food items.
At long last there is now a way to compare Supermarket Prices NZ. New Zealanders pay some of the highest food prices in the world at our supermarkets. The main reason for this is that New Zealand only has two main grocery operators, which has created a duopoly.
Food prices in New Zealand over the last few years have rocketed up in price. Food inflation is currently the highest it has been in a very long time. As a result many Kiwis are facing huge food bills. The NZ Commerce Commission recently released a report saying that competition in the retail grocery sector was not working well, and recommended a suite of changes to increase competition. These changes are to help improve prices, improve quality and the range of grocery items. More info on this can be found here.
One of the problems in New Zealand is that it is very difficult to compare prices at the different super markets, unless you physically go into each of the stores. This is because the prices haven't all previously been online, and there can be major difference in price between the different stores based on location. However as reported by the New Zealand media, there is now a new app that allows Kiwis to compare Supermarket Prices NZ. This new App is call Grocer, and can be accessed via their website at www.grocer.nz . Learn how to use the Grocer App to compare Supermarket prices NZ.
We have tried out the new Grocer Supermarket comparison web app on a number of food items, and it seemed very accurate. It is a very simple stripped back app, but it already works well.
The new Grocer web app will hopefully become an essential tool to save Kiwis money on their weekly shop. It also comes at a very good time as inflation in NZ starts to bite and Kiwis are being a lot more careful how they spend their money.
How to Compare Supermarket Prices NZ using the Grocer App
The Grocer App can be accessed at www.grocer.nz . The Grocer comparison app is just a website app, so it should work in any web browser. It doesn't require installing from the App store. If accessing it from a mobile device, we suggest that you save the link to your home screen, so you can then access it like a normal app when you are out an about.
The first thing you will need to do in order to compare supermarket prices in NZ, is to select your local supermarkets that you shop at. You can select up to 10 supermarkets in total.
Please note that the Grocer App doesn't have all of the supermarkets. It also only has Countdown Stores and not Fresh Choice. Hopefully the number will increase over time. We have also received some reports that the web app doesn't work on the web browser on iPads, and we can confirm it doesn't. This may just be a bug, but it works fine on both iPhones and Android phones we have tried it out on, as well as on desktop browsers.
Please also visit our Deals and Savings Page for more ways for Kiwis to save money on their home purchases.
Please note that we don't have any connection or association with the Grocer App. Like the NZ public, we discovered the new tool via the New Zealand media. We think it is a fantastic tool to help Kiwis get the best deals on their groceries and to save money during these tough times.
