All of the EV Electric Cars currently for sale in New Zealand in 2023.

This is our updated list of Every Electric Car (EV) currently for sale in New Zealand in 2023. It also includes YouTube video reviews of each Electric Car model.  Over the last few years we have posted our lists of all of the EVs available in NZ and the list has grown significantly over that time. You can also view the 2021 EV list, and the 2022 EV list.  Many existing EV models have dropped in price for 2023, although some have increased.

The Electric Cars currently for sale in the New Zealand market at the time of publishing this article include the following brands and models. Our 2023 Electric Cars NZ list only contains pure 100% battery electric vehicles (BEV). It also only includes cars. So it doesn't contain  hybrids, or plugin hybrids (PHEV), which both have combustion engines in them. The YouTube video reviews of each Electric Car model are mainly of overseas models, so they may differ from the specifications of the New Zealand EV models.

BYD EVs

BYD is one of the newer car manufacturers in the New Zealand EV car market. It is a large Chinese brand offering a more affordable range of EVs to the New Zealand consumer.

BYD Dolphin NZ

The BYD Dolphin NZ is the entry level model for the BYD EV range and is a 5 door hatchback. The BYD Dolphin comes in both Standard and Extended range variant. Kia EV6 NZ

The Kia EV6 was introduced to the New Zealand market in 2022. The EV6 is the sister car of the Hyundai Ioniq5. It starts from  $69,975 + ORC for the Air RWD, with a 394km max range. Other Kia EV6 models include the Air Long Range for $72,975 + ORC (max range of 528km), The Earth AWD Long Range Dual Motor for $99,990 + ORC (max range of 506km), and the GT-Line Long Range Dual Motor for $111,990 + ORC (max range of 484km). The Earth and GT-Line have increased in price since 2022, which the lower two models have decreased in price. Lexus EVs

Lexus UX 300e NZ - Updated model for 2023

This is Lexus first EV and it is a compact SUV. The 2023 model has a larger battery than the original, increasing the range. Tesla NZ

Tesla is one of the main reasons electric cars are now so popular. They have managed to make electric cars cool again, with top styling that makes their models look as good as, if not better than regular and luxury combustion engine cars. Teslas are also packed full of the latest tech features, which in most cases surpass the EV competition. Tesla are to electric cars, what Apple were to mobile phones.
